St. Xavier’s School in Dehradun celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm, paying tribute to the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. *The theme, “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein,”* highlighted the importance of dedicating time to sports and physical activity.
The school’s festivities included a skit performed by middle school students, emphasizing the significance of physical activity and sports. Senior students paid tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, discussing his contributions to Indian sports. Principal Dr. Ena Banerjee led the students and staff in a pledge, reaffirming their commitment to sports and physical activity.
The school’s efforts were recognized when it was felicitated by Sports Minister Mrs. Rekha Arya, along with 19 other schools, at a ceremony organized by The Times of India. Students Ayush Kumar, Shobhit Thapa, Mansi Uniyal, and Pooja Kumari, along with Physical Education Teacher Mr. Akhilesh Kumar Chauhan, were honored for their achievements and contributions to sports.
